Featured: A Brief Look at Texting and the Internet in Film
Every Frame A Painting is the hit YouTube channel dedicated to the analysis of film form. The work for Hollyoaks my self and fellow designers (Andy, Simon, Joey) at Mersey TV (now Lime Pictures) created was featured.
A Brief Look at Texting and the Internet in Film looks at the evolution of SMS, Internet and texting on screen in TV and Film. Our work on Hollyoaks and Hollyoaks Let Loose it seems was quite groundbreaking in the transition to onscreen interaction in the digital age. I was so thrilled to see our work featured on the episode: A Brief Look at Texting and the Internet in Film.
I worked as the production Graphic Designer for the Hollyoaks Let Loose Series, the late night spin off the popular show. Our storyline was full of digital storytelling with webcam chat scenes, chat windows and onscreen use of text messaging and early social media messenger apps and sites.
I designed UI and UX designs for the show, developed flash portal to deliver it real time on set without post production, as well as all the on screen graphics and motion graphics of text for the Late Night episodes.
It’s such a great honour to find a place in film and tv history in the evolution of digital. Much respect to the MerseyTV art department, Jan Rolands in particular andAndy Johnston who lead the design team. Big thanks to Every Frame A Painting for the inspiring and wonderful series.
